Description

Under the general direction of the Agricultural Commissioner and/or the Chief Deputy Agricultural Commissioner, plans and supervises the implementation of department programs in assigned specialized fields of agricultural inspection, coordinates and oversees field operations through a supervising agricultural inspector and performs related duties as assigned. This position is currently assigned to the Pesticide Use Enforcement program, but may be assigned to another division.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the role of the Agricultural Commissioner's Office as both an inspection and compliance entity, and a public service provider with multiple stakeholders; working knowledge of Civil Service Merit System and how to work effectively within it; superior supervision and management skills; excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills; and the ability to learn and contribute effectively to a strategic systems improvement organizational process.
