This is the advanced supervisory level classification in the Agricultural/Standards Inspector series. Under the supervision of a manager, incumbents at this level are responsible for performing regulatory inspections, conducting investigations, testing of commercial devices for accuracy, and enforcing regulations as licensed employees of the Orange County Agricultural Commissioner and Sealer of Weights & Measures office. Positions at this level may provide full supervision to staff.
These inspections may include locations such as orchards, fields, range lands, residential or business premises, nurseries, and other facilities selling or distributing plants. Incumbents are assigned work only in those areas for which they hold valid state certificates.
Inspectors in this class independently perform inspections in agricultural functions for which they hold certificates. Inspectors may be responsible for a variety of inspections within an assigned geographic area or serving as a technical specialist in either agricultural or weights and measures programs. Incumbents may be tasked with other assignments as required for the position.
