Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer
$165,385 - $212,131 Annually
The salary range is dependent upon qualifications.
The County of Santa Clara is looking for an experienced Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer to oversee and direct our agricultural inspection and weights and measures programs in the Consumer and Environmental Protection Agency. This position is responsible for developing and administering budgets and control expenditures, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, leading initiatives to prevent the spread of invasive species and ensuring the legal use of pesticides, collaborating with state and county officials, participating in public information programs, and influencing policy changes. Additionally, this position directs investigations, conducts administrative hearings, and maintains critical records and equipment.
Required Background and Experience:
The required knowledge and abilities would typically be acquired through education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in agricultural, biological, chemical or physical sciences or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the enforcement of agricultural or weights and measures laws, including two (2) years of management/supervisory and program experience.
Certification required: Possession of valid Licenses of eligibility as a County Agricultural Commissioner and as a County Sealer of Weights and Measures.
